Kevin McMabe to start own promotions company

Highly respected promotions executive, Kevin McCabe, today announces the formation of Kevin McCabe Promotions, his own bespoke promotions company.

McCabe has for the past 4 years been part of the UK management team at Caroline International, along with running the promotions team at Caroline International and working on special projects for the other UMG labels (Glen Campbell, REM, Genesis). Before that he was SVP of Media for EMI Music and also the Parlophone Label Group before the Warners acquisition.

McCabe has also continued to work with his longterm clients Radiohead and Pet Shop Boys, and has now decided to go fully independent.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Caroline International and UMG and I'm very grateful for the opportunity that David Joseph, Michael Roe and Jim Chancellor gave me to work and learn there. However I now feel that this is the right time to branch out on my own and experience working with different artists, labels and management companies".

McCabe will continue to work with some of the artists on the Caroline International roster such as Gaz Coombes (an artist that he has worked with since Coombes first signed to Parlophone back in 1994), Tracey Thorn and Nathaniel Rateliff.

His new roster of clients includes Franz Ferdinand and The Damned, alongside continuing relationships with Simple Minds and The Pretenders. He will also be reunited with previous client Kylie.

Says McCabe, "when I received the call from Jamie Nelson and BMG asking if I would be interested in working with Kylie again, I jumped at the chance. Her new album is quite simply to me her 'career record' - it is a stunning collection of songs and one that I cannot wait to take to radio".

McCabe is clearly looking forward to 2018. "It's a very busy start to the year, but one that is full of real quality music. The Gaz Coombes album is nothing short of a masterpiece, the Simple Minds album is up there in their top drawer of work, Tracey Thorn has delivered a wonderful collection of songs and the Tony Visconti produced album for The Damned is going to turn heads. I'm thrilled to be representing these artists in 2018 and look forward to working with other new clients".

McCabe has started the year and his new business in the perfect way by delivering a first national radio playlist (B-list at BBC Radio 2) for new Communion artist Joseph J Jones, an artist that he feels has a big year ahead of him.
