Minder Music co-Founder John Fogarty signs admin deal with BMG
28 November 2017 - Press releaseMinder Music founder John Fogarty has struck a new deal with BMG under which the company will administer rights to his new venture New Songs Administration (NSA).
The deal comes two years after BMG acquired Minder Music from Fogarty and with it rights to a treasure trove of copyrights including works by The Fall, seminal R&B bands The Gap Band, The Fatback Band and Jimmy Castor as well as perennial favourites like Ace’s ‘How Long’ (both publishing and recording), Yarbrough & People’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ and ‘Denise’ (notably performed by Blondie as ‘Denis’).
The arrangement with NSA means BMG will now represent an additional share in Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’, the beloved children’s classic ‘The Laughing Policeman’, works recorded by Rod Stewart including the classic “In A Broken Dream”, as well as numerous songs written or co-written by legendary US songwriter Aaron Schroeder including ‘Rubber Ball’ (made famous by Bobby Vee) and ‘It’s Now Or Never’ (Elvis Presley).
Schroeder songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Roy Orbison to Duane Eddy and Nat King Cole to Perry Como, and Schroeder titles feature on current and forthcoming releases Christmas With Elvis And The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Len Goodman's Legends - Best of British and Dreamboats & Petticoats - The Diamond Edition.
NSA represents the A. Schroeder Intl catalogue for various territories through its arrangement with Abby Schroeder
John Fogarty said, “Since concluding the deal for BMG to acquire Minder, it has been a real pleasure working with the UK team. For my NSA copyrights I wanted to be with a real publisher rather than a data processor – they are not the same thing – and I am pleased to sign with BMG, freeing up my time to acquire more copyrights.”
BMG UK President Repertoire & Marketing Alexi Cory-Smith said, “John is one of the most accomplished and consistently successful independent publishers in the UK, and we are delighted to take on the administration of NSA.”
