Spotify Releases Analytics Tool for Music Publishers

Following the success of its Spotify for Artists platform, Spotify has released a similar tool set for music publishers. Launched today in beta, Spotify Publishing Analytics gives publishers daily streaming stats for their clients’ recordings, and allows them to track playlist performance and view other data points for each writer on their roster.

Spotify said on Thursday that it worked in close collaboration with several publishers, including BMG and Reservoir, while developing the tool, which it touts as the first music streaming analytics tool built specifically for publishers. The company stressed that the tool is strictly for data analytics and won’t change anything about how publishing royalties are accounted for or paid.

“One of our core missions at Spotify is to enable creators the opportunity to live off their art,” said Jules Parker, Spotify’s head of publishing relations & services. “The publishing community is integral in supporting the songwriters that create the music we love. With more information, publishers are empowered to make the most of the opportunities the global reach of Spotify provides, and the more information we can share with each other, the more opportunities we can help create for songwriters.”
