Gesaffelstein has returned and has a new home at Columbia Records. The news arrives just a couple of weeks after billboards with his name embossed on them popped up in areas of Los Angeles, New York City and Paris.
The French techno producer’s résumé includes multiple cuts with The Weeknd — “I Was Never There” and “Hurt You” from his March EP My Dear Melancholy — as well as Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead” and “Send It Up.”
A rep from Columbia Records declined to comment further on the signing beyond the announcement itself. It’s been five years since the release of Gesaffelstein’s debut album Aleph, so the signing encourages the possibility of new music, perhaps a new album, on the horizon.
