LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been announced as the 2019 recipient of the O2 Silver Clef Award.

“The O2 Silver Clef Awards recognize and celebrate the outstanding talent of the winning artists who through their music have touched the lives of many thousands of people. This event helps to raise vital funds ensuring that Nordoff Robbins is able to continue delivering music therapy to support vulnerable people across the UK and allows us the opportunity to give something back to the music industry who support us so generously throughout the year,” said David Munns, Chairman, Nordoff Robbins Board of Governors.

The award will be presented to Sheeran by Scottish radio presenter Edith Bowman at Nordoff Robbins’ annual charity event which, this year, will be held on July 5th at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Other artists who have been announced as award recipients for 2019 include Sam Smith and Dua Lipa, who will take home the AEG Best Male Award, and Smile Best Female Award respectively, and The Black-Eyed Peas, who will be presented with The Raymond Weil International Award.

Electro-pop band Years & Years are in line to receive the Hard Rock Café Best Group Award while rising star Mabel has been announced as the winner of the Ticketmaster Best Newcomer Award.

Sheku Kanneh-Mason, a talented newcomer on the classical music scene who performed at Prince Harry and Meghan Merkle’s wedding last year, picks up the PPL Classical Award and electronic music legends The Chemical Brothers are to take home the Bose Innovation Award.

Since the Silver Clefs started in 1976 the annual awards have raised over £10 million to support Nordoff Robbins music programs.
