During his 28 years of life, Tim Bergling tried to make a difference. His music, released under the name Avicii, touched millions, and his charitable efforts raised millions of dollars toward the fight against hunger and AIDS worldwide. Many felt the loss of his life to suicide in 2018, and his family has done much to keep his memory alive. On Tuesday (March 26) it announced the Tim Bergling Foundation as a means to ensure that his passion for giving back lives on.
“Tim wanted to make a difference,” the family states in a press release. “Starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit.”
The Tim Bergling Foundation will begin with a focus on mental health and suicide prevention, but will soon expand to include initiatives for climate change and endangered species protection as well as nature conservation. The Foundation is meant to be everlasting with programs launched in Bergling’s native Sweden and beyond.
