There’s no question any more about whether artificial intelligence can create music – the arguments are about how good that music will be, what it might be used for, and what that might mean for human musicians.
We’ve been covering this area for some time now, interviewing and writing about startups like Jukedeck, Amper Music and Popgun, as well as the research work going on within Google, Sony and other tech companies.
As part of a Music Ally research project recently, we put together a primer on the space with mini-profiles of the startups we’ve been writing about; a couple of the projects where artists and AIs are collaborating; and some of the talking points about what it all means for our industry, and for human artists and songwriters.
