SoundCloud Launches DJ Software Integration With Native Instruments

SoundCloud is bringing streaming to the DJ booth.

SoundCloud is bringing streaming to the DJ booth. The Berlin-based company launched a DJ performance software integration with Native Instruments’ Traktor DJ 2, a program that selectors use to pick, play and mix songs live. Now, both SoundCloud and Traktor DJ 2 users can access the streaming entity’s entire catalog of 200 million tracks (by 20 million creators) from within the booth.

This follows an announcement earlier this month that SoundCloud had completed a similar integration with Pioneer DJ’s WeDJ app, aimed at beginner selectors, for subscribers to the premium service SoundCloud Go+; and earlier this year, the open audio platform revealed partnerships with other DJ software companies including Serato, Virtual DJ and DEX 3. SoundCloud has promised additional team-ups to come later this year.

To celebrate the news, Native Instruments has posted to their SoundCloud profile a number of playlists that reflect actual setlists from producers including Objekt, Forest Swords, DJ SAMA ‘ ???? , Tommy Four Seven, Kornél Kovács, Felix Da Housecat, Lyzza, DJ Rachael, and Gafacci. “DJs at any level can utilize these artist-curated mixes to jump right into mixing sets using SoundCloud and Traktor DJ 2, or to practice their tempo matching, song selection and style techniques,” reads the press release.

SoundCloud isn’t the only company making moves in this space. Earlier this month, digital retailer Beatport announced the debut of DJ subscription service Beatport LINK, which allows selectors to stream both on- and offline tracks they’ve purchased through Beatport.
