We say

In these uncertain times, here's a cool bossa nova groove from Cherise to ease you into the weekend. As a teenager growing up in Luton, this winner of the 2019 Jazz FM Vocalist of the year award immersed herself in the music of greats from Sam Cooke and Sarah Vaughan, all the way through to ’90s star Anita Baker. The timeless quality of these influences has clearly rubbed off on this song, taken from her recently released debut four-track EP Paradise, which was part financed by the Drake Yolanda Award. She has also been a staple on the jazz circuit for the last few years,  performing at many of the UK’s most prestigious venues including the RAH for the BBC Proms and Cheltenham Jazz Festival alongside luminaries such as Guy Barker. Now, as some warm spring days are just ahead of us, we’re confident that this tune will sound even more special in your sunshine playlist with its soulful vibes beautifully drifting through the rays. Her vocal is seductive and enchanting too. In fact, the track, which she wrote 100%, is just pure class, so much so that you’d swear it must be a standard or torch song that Ella Fitzgerald or Dinah Washington first recorded in the golden age of the ’40s or ’50s, or maybe even a forgotten gem from Sade in the ’80s. And one thing is for sure, we can’t wait to see her live when the lockdown is lifted. Because this song alone will make it well worth the admission. Simply gorgeous.

Cherise's charity of choice is "Tomorrow's Warriors, because I and so many other young women and people of colour in the UK Jazz scene owe our careers to them".
