★★☆☆☆
If you have heard the distinctive sound of modern R&B over the past five years or so, with its Auto-Tune vocals, woozy digital effects and syrupy beats, it is likely that this Canadian producer had some involvement in it. He has written massive hits for Drake and Rihanna, and now both return the favour with guest spots on his third solo album.
Much of it passes by pleasantly enough, with messages of seduction and tales of a Las Vegas high life embedded within synthesised handclaps, echoed vocal lines and moody keyboard hums, while Rihanna’s Believe It has sultry charm, but it is all deadly earnest and really rather dull. (Ovo)
