Adriana Restrepo appointed Chair of IFPI Latin America & Caribbean Regional Board
18 September 2017 - Press releaseAdriana Restrepo, a leading figure in the Colombian music industry, has been appointed Chair of the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Board of IFPI, the organisation representing the recording industry worldwide.
Adriana Restrepo is the president of CODISCOS, a leading independent Colombian record company. She has been instrumental in its transformation into a fully integrated digital business which today also provides services beyond the music sector, including the development of mobile apps and digital educational products.
Restrepo is also the Chair of IFPI’s Colombian National Group (APDIF), the Chair of the Colombian Music Licensing Company for artists and record producers (ACINPRO) and a board member of the publishers’ association (ACODEM).
Frances Moore, CEO of IFPI, commented on the appointment: “Adriana’s appointment is excellent news for our Latin America and Caribbean Board. I have witnessed her dedication and focus for many years and it is great to have her at the helm at such an exciting time for Latin American music.”
Restrepo takes over the role of Chair from Jesus Lopez, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Latin America and Iberian Peninsula, who will continue to serve as a member of the Board. Jesus Lopez, said: “As the music market here continues its resurgence, it is excellent news that for the first time in our history, a woman and the head of an independent record company will lead the Board of IFPI Latin America. For many years, Adriana has demonstrated her commitment to defending the rights of record producers, both in her native Colombia and across the region. I wish her much success in this new role.”
